Data Description

  • Summary:
The goals of collecting this data on AP exam scores by discipline was to gauge the individual success on an AP Exam in 2007. Most students view a grade of 3 or higher as a successful grade (grade range {1 (worst), 2, 3, 4, 5(best)}. Of interest was to evaluate the performance for each grade level, type of school, or geographic location.
This table reflects 2,533,431 AP Examinations taken by 1,464,254 students from 16,464 secondary schools.
Standard students generally receive most of their foreign language training in U.S. schools. They did not indicate on their answer sheet that they regularly speak or hear the foreign language of the examination, or that they have lived for one month or more in a country where the language is spoken.
